EU New Packaging Regulations: 2026 Compliance Requirements

The revised EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) that takes effect in 2026 brings sweeping changes to how compostable plastics may be placed on the European market. The regulation introduces clearer definitions, mandatory marking requirements and minimum recycled content thresholds across packaging categories.

For compostable bags, the key compliance points are: (1) certification to EN 13432 or EN 14995 remains mandatory; (2) products must carry the harmonised compostability logo plus the applicable waste stream colour code; (3) home-compostable certification is now formally recognised for certain lightweight carrier bag applications, removing previous ambiguity.

Techuang New Materials has worked proactively with TÜV Austria and DIN CERTCO to ensure our entire bag range is fully compliant ahead of the enforcement deadline. Updated declaration of conformity documents are available to customers on request through our export team.
